Well, our month is almost up with summit-servers so I wanted to get some feedback on what everyone thinks about it, if it's overrated etc. Or if anyone wants to suggest another server company.

It was amazing. Everything felt so much nicer, although it could've been a placebo effect. However it seemed like it started to veer downward nowadays... either that or everyone's just been laggy lately cause of optimum...

In any case though I typically don't notice the finer things of better servers over average servers. When it comes to finding scrims at least people don't bitch about registry or whatever anymore so I imagine the features that most people look for must be spectacular.

It's a luxury to me but I'm sure others appreciate it more for its finer things. It's kinda like when people bitch about having 80 fps when they typically get 100. Then again I'm only playing on a laptop whose screen refresh rate is 60hz on wireless signal so..yeah...

raul and myself were looking around for other 1000FPS servers and found that many of them run along the order of $80/mo (with priority CPU) Only other deal significantly lower is stealth-servers (~$65/mo), but their site was horrible with misdirected links, non-working links and a non-working test server. Along with that their "24/7 Live support" really wasn't 24/7 Live support as there was no one online to field our questions.

At summit-servers we supposedly have our own machine (rather than getting "priority cpu") and are paying $10 more than the average rates we found at other places. I proposed we extend for another month and then do more intense research on other server companies during the term to see if we can get a better deal. Or maybe see what the difference is on a 500FPS unless anyone knows.

I put in a support ticket about the choke spikes some of us have been experiencing so maybe they can help us with that as well.

Anybody else have any other suggestions?

Stealthservers are decent from my own experience. It's what I use for the jukeNrun servers but I'm not so sure about their high end servers. Their response time to tickets are pretty quick and they set up the server within 5 minutes of the order.

I've heard good things about SickServers and some NuclearFallout servers are pretty nice.

I don't know where this is coming from cause i love the server. its alot better than before and i can usually tell cause i tap with rifles a lot. each individual shot seems to hit. i've only had 1 possible reg issue so far. others have even complimented the servers in scrims. imo, its preety much what i expect for 1000 fps server.

other than that, i've had no choke issues or w.e. shit. well recently there was a huge ping issue, i suppose. I don't think its overrated. um I wouldn't say the same about stealthservers, but nuclear fallout is good.

I think the servers GREAT it has had a few ping issues but nothing a support ticket might fix... but if you’re looking at other servers I’m a very good resource for that... considering I’ve whored them around for 4+ years to find the best ones...

Stealth servers are alright... had problems with them after first week...
nuclear fallout servers are good esp higher end...
Sick servers is one of the few servers ive never had... but i also hear good things

Alrighty, I paid summit-servers for another month, in the meantime we can do a search for a new place if we wish to go that route, or we can try finding sponsors... lol.

Anyone ever heard of leetservers.com?

I've been having issues with choke too, whenever we scrim and the servers full.

According to my response from Summit, some google searching and from Tony (Lew) choke has nothing to do with Shot Registration. It just has to do with the server sending more data than your computer can receive or is set to receive via rates (in terms of frames etc). We've been experiencing choke because we've moved from 200-250FPS servers to a 1000FPS.

In other words my interpretation of the "choke issue" is that instead of having a server send our computer 200-250 frames per second it attempts to send us 1000FPS. If we cannot receive all of the information we get choke, and although we may get choke we, our performance on a 1000FPS server is sill far better than our performance on a 250FS server without choke.

This is why our choke may spike in times of intense gun fights and smokes. However the server performance still exceeds what we used to play on despite choke increases.

The lesson I learned is that complaining about choke is as significant as complaining about "ms".

woot atleast i complained about the right shit ! :) oh and paul what are your rates? cl_cmdrate 101... cl_updaterate 101... and rate 20000 or 25000 and ex_interp .01

Yea I'm afraid that's what might be happening to ours. The past week we've been running rcon stats and realized we weren't actually getting 1000FPS. There's currently a support ticket up about it so we'll see. Either way I think this may be our last month with them, I wasn't too impressed after the first week.

Wow, During that scrim on de_inferno the server was REALLY messed up. SummitServers - 0/10. No more Summit's.

Didn't you guys have a Hi-Def? I thought those were decent

You should ask for some money back.... Because false advertising is illegal? Couldn't you sue them?

It was only a 500FPS server and it was pretty good, nothing amazing. As far as switching providers, I'd say it's a toss up between NFO and Sickservers (from what I've read). Olim told me that someone with a clanserver modified the server.cfg and it registered pretty well.

Well our last scrim on inferno, We where going up to 500 ms and skipping all over the place.

Also my friends clan has a NFO server I could ask if we could come in to check it out.

I put in yet another support ticket, they told me according to their TOS they don't give refunds even though this problem was reported literally like a couple days after i paid for June (gee what a surprise). Only thing they could do is credit us with more time and suffer with their shit for a longer period of time.

Oh yea and get this: I asked if they could move us to another machine and they claimed they have a waiting list and cannot do that, and hey claim they give you your very own CPU but in one of my supprort tickets they revealed we were one of two people on the shit CPU we're on.

For the month of July we will be with SickServers on a 500FPS server.
