Well, I have regular AIM running on my main laptop, and Pidgin running on my school laptop, and I want to know what are some cool things that I can do with Pidgin that is useful (nice plugins and what not). Right now there really isn't much of a difference to me ATM and I'm a Pidgin noob.

I have the "sister" program for mac, Adium. I like it, its nice and light weight and basically everything is modifiable, from its contact list to the IM windows. With AIM, its ugly and annoying with all the ads and the games and other add ons I wouldn't use.

What is a pidgin? Is it like an instant messanger program?

Fool around with the plugins which you can find at Tools > Plugins. A pretty cool plugin is psychic mode. It notifies you when someone is about to message to you.

uhm... some good plugins i use:
conversation colors (configures system msg. colors, sent msg. color display, received color msg. display)
history (just shows the last conversation log in your IM window)
psychic mode (supposedly predicts right when you are about to receive an IM,doesn't work that well)
windows pidgin option (start pidgin when windows starts)
I'dle Mak'er (customize your own idle time if you want to appear idle. useful for avoiding talking to people?)

some of those are pretty good ideas, like the one where you see like the last few lines you spoke with a particular person when you talk again.

Yar, I use that as well as the theme selector. It's quite nice. Oh, and the text replacement is pretty convenient as well.

how do i "press enter" to edit my buddy info, as in like... make line breaks or something, because it only lets me type straight text and not press enter to skip a few lines down
like this
and this
instead of:
like this and this
