Well it struck me that it's that time of the year again, a new semester which means new textbooks. Why must they cost so much and why must they come out with new editions every year and a half? Also if you're a nobel laureate your textbook's value never depreciates.

Luckily I do not have to deal with that yet, how much do you have to pay?

Well I look on ebay for good deals and international editions, but for my Thermodynamics course we were assigned a textbook that was published in 1994 and the guy who wrote it was a Nobel Laureate which may be the reason why the cheapest I could even find a used one for is like $87 after shipping. Two of my Math classes came out with new edition textbooks for this year and I found the previous editions for like $30. The new editions cost like $120 at the University bookstore. I'm not even bothering with the textbooks for my core classes.
